Bring your own device (BYOD)

BYOD is for all new students starting in the Bachelor of Business Administration degree and Business Administration diploma (full-time.) You need a Windows-based laptop meeting the minimum requirements listed below. Please note: MacBook laptops do not meet the program requirements.

Regarding the use of Apple products as your BYOD device. There are a number of software applications used throughout the Bachelor of Business Administration program that are not available for Apple products. Microsoft Project, Microsoft Access and some tax software packages are a few examples.

MacBooks were piloted in the BBA program in the fall of 2015, but the devices encountered more problems in the classrooms and resulted in lower success rates for the students using them. There was also a significant impact to the pace of learning for the instructors and other students in the class. After completing surveys and focus group sessions with students and faculty, a decision was reached to go with Windows based laptops only.

Hardware Software
  • Minimum Intel I5 or AMD A8 processor
  • 250 GB Hard Drive
  • 6 GB RAM
  • Minimum resolution of 1280 X 720
