Learn Revit/BIM software in five weeks! More registration dates coming available in August 2018.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) has the power to change the way the building industry works and knowledge of BIM will help you build a rewarding career in architecture, construction, engineering or interior design. You'll learn the concepts and technical skills of BIM and the Revit Architecture software that will allow your firm to take advantage of this major evolution in building design tools, from the fundamentals of creating construction documents and 3D architectural project models to more advanced features, such as conceptual design and BIM management.
This intensive course includes all the content from SAIT's Revit Architecture Fundamentals, Intermediate and Advanced classes. Upon successful completion, students will be granted a SAIT Certificate of Completion.
SAIT is an Autodesk Authorized Training Centre, which offers Autodesk approved courses part-time and online to give you the hands-on experience you need to enter the workforce. You will work with knowledgeable instructors, official Autodesk training guides, and exercises that emphasize real-world, practical applications.
You will start learning the basics of Revit Architecture software such as using drawing tools, editing elements, levels and grids, and creating full 3D architectural project models and setting them up in working drawings. Most of the first course is focused on design development tools - building the 3D model with walls, windows, doors, floors, roofs, stairs, creating reflected ceiling plans and furniture plans. The course concludes with adding views and annotation to the sheets to create a set of construction documents.
You will advance to the intermediate course and learn about additional collaboration tools and BIM management strategies such as project phasing, display options, importing and exporting, worksets and advanced design development tools. You will also become familiar with construction document tools including material takeoff schedules, keynotes and legends.
The final focus will be on conceptual design using the software's site design and structural design tools while you learn about space planning, massing, visualization and rendering. These techniques will empower you to progress from massing studies to creating a commercial building project, as you apply your knowledge of area analysis, walkthrough, solar studies and more.
No specific job experience is necessary to learn to use Revit software. Previous experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software is recommended. Students are required to purchase the mandatory course materials at the SAIT Bookstore (approximate cost is $140).
