Academic Coaching

Don't make a game-time decision when it comes to your grades — be proactive about your success at school and enhance your learning, studying and test-taking skills with support from an academic coach.

We can help you with:

  • time management
  • exam preparation
  • reading strategies
  • effective note-taking and more.

All students can book a one-on-one appointment with an academic coach anytime during the school year or attend a drop-in workshop. We play an active role in supporting students facing academic challenges so you feel confident and will succeed in your studies.

An instructor may also refer you to an academic coach if it looks like you need additional support with course material. The referral happens in the first four to eight weeks of term or the first week of an apprentice training period — we call it an "early alert".

Academic probation support

Workshop: Back on Track

If your cumulative program grade point average falls below 2.0, you'll be notified by the Office of the Registrar that you're on academic probation.

We can help you get Back on Track — this workshop will explain what academic probation means, assist you with identifying and addressing some of the factors that might be contributing to low grades, and you'll create a personalized success action plan. Then we will work with you regularly throughout the semester to get you where you need to be.
