Semester-long loans to staff and faculty may be recalled after 3 weeks. Also, no item will be loaned out past the expiry date of your library privileges.

Multi-part sets (such as board games and media kits) must be complete when returned. Students must sign a loan agreement annually to borrow media kits.

The maximum number of items you may have signed out at one time is limited by your borrower type:

  • Full-time students, staff and faculty: 25 items
  • Apprentices, part-time students, TAL and alumni: 10 items

You may return material to the Information Desk or use the drop slot inside the Stan Grad Centre's south-east doors.

Renewing a book, or other material, allows you to keep a borrowed materials for an additional loan period. Borrowers may not renew library materials if:

  • Borrowing privileges have been suspended due to outstanding fines, overdue material or other charges.
  • The item is already overdue.
  • Another person has requested (placed a hold on) that item.
  • The renewal exceeds that item's renewal limit.

Circulating books and 3-day loan DVDs that have reached their renewal limit must be returned to the library. After 1 week, if no one else has taken the item, it may be borrowed again.

You can renew materials by contacting us or via My Library Account.

Returning materials late

If you keep library materials beyond the due date or have outstanding fines, you will not be able to access e-resources remotely or renew materials online.

Students, staff and faculty carrying fines in excess of $10.00 or having more than 2 overdue items will have their borrowing privileges suspended. For all others, borrow privileges are suspended when you have one overdue item or a fine owing.

Students with outstanding fines or other charges will have holds placed on their Student Services registration accounts preventing registration and the release of diplomas or transcripts. Delinquent accounts for all users may be referred to a collection agency.

You should pay fines and other library charges at the Information Desk. We accept cash, credit card and debit card. Credit card payments can be paid over the phone.

Lost materials

If you lose something borrowed from the library, notify us as soon as possible. The charge for a lost item is: overdue fines + replacement cost + $10 (maximum) handling fee.
